U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, along with other Representatives in the U.S. House, wants the U.S. administration to delay the delivery of F-16s to Egypt. This woman chairs the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee. In other words, the person who was a Jewish immigrant from Cuba to the U.S. occupies a central position in shaping U.S. policy on our countries. I wish the Jewish-Cuban-American Representative no harm. I don’t even wish for flu to infect her. But at the same time, I refuse to shake her hand if I ever see her, as I place her among those neoconservative enemies of Arabs and Muslims. I have many objections on the record of President Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood administration in Egypt. But when the issue involves a Likudnik-leaning campaign against the president of Egypt, then I am fully on his side against the enemies of his country. Ros-Lehtinen has claimed that the future of the Muslim Brotherhood government is in doubt. But I say that this is what she hopes for, and she will be disappointed. She has also stated that Morsi continually violates the civil rights of the Egyptian people, and that it was clear from the recent wave of demonstrations that the people have had enough. Well I say that the president of Egypt is – without a doubt – less oppressive against his citizens than most other Arab leaders. But the pro-Israel representative sees no one else but him, which makes her blind, for instance, to the daily crimes of Netanyahu’s government against the Palestinians. At any rate, I do not believe that she cares at all about the wellbeing of protesters in Egypt. Ros-Lehtinen, as she said, introduced legislation in the House to condition U.S. aid to Egypt until it can be assured that the Egyptian government can be trusted. But I say that trust is not a tangible quantity that can be measured. In addition, there can be no trust whatsoever in the intentions of the representative herself, having supported all wars against Arabs and Muslims. Ros-Lehtinen claimed that the volatile situation in Egypt should give the U.S. reason to pause when considering continuing to provide aid to Egypt, especially military assistance in the form of F-16s. She said, “Even more disconcerting are Morsi’s (always mentioned without his title) views toward our closest friend and ally, the democratic Jewish State of Israel. The statements that have come to light in recent weeks clearly reveal a man who holds Jews and Israel in such contempt that it would not be out of the realm of possibility to believe he is capable of turning his aggression toward Israel.” Every single word in the above quote is a shameless lie. I challenge the representative and the entire U.S. administration to stop aid to Egypt, which is essentially aid meant for Israel as it is designed to preserve the peace treaty between the two countries. I dare them to suspend this aid, because they will see the result immediately. Furthermore, Israel cannot be a democratic state at the same time as it is occupying Palestinian land on the basis of myths of the Torah and wicked prophets who never really existed in our countries, as no antiquities exist to corroborate their alleged history. Despite all the above, the Jewish-Cuban-American representative supports aid to Israel, the occupation state that habitually murders women and children, and yet receives more aid from the U.S. than any other country. The secret aid given to it is probably many times more what is declared. The main reason for this is that the Israel lobby had bribed many members of Congress, with the result being that the latter often put the interests of Israel ahead of those of the U.S. itself, although the government in Israel is fascistic, criminal and racist, and enforces apartheid against the only native population in the land. Ros-Lehtinen concluded her statement by saying that Morsi cannot be trusted, and proposed suspending aid to Egypt to prevent Morsi from spreading his message of anti-Semitism across the globe. To this I say that Israel, particularly its racist policies, and the killing and demolishing perpetrated by its neo-Nazi government, is the reason for the spread of anti-Semitism around the world, not Morsi or anyone else. Moreover, those who defend Israel are accomplices in its government’s crimes against the Palestinians. What is even more insolent than the above was a legislation proposed also by Ros-Lehtinen, asking that in order for U.S. aid to continue, the U.S. administration must ensure that Egypt is not led by a foreign terrorist organization. Israel is controlled by a terrorist organization called the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, who is a terrorist like Ehud Barak, and all those who defend this fascist government are terrorists like it. I am not a supporter of Mohamed Morsi or the Muslim Brotherhood administration in Egypt. But when the choice is between the president of Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood on one hand, and the enemies of the Arabs and Muslims on the other, then I always stand with the people of Egypt and their elected government, and challenge Congress to suspend aid to Egypt because we’ll see what happens then. --- The views expressed by the author do not necessarily represent or reflect the editorial policy of Arabstoday.
