His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Honorary President of the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF), will patronise the Bahrain Open Championship for MMA and Boxing, which will be held on April 28-29.
Colonel Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayat, President of the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation, praised the sponsorship of HH Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the championship. The event is the Federation’s first competition, since its formation in June. Al-Khayat stressed that His Highness’ sponsorship will reflect the success of this event.
Al-Khayyat added: “First of all, we would like to thank HH Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa for sponsoring Bahrain Open Championship for MMA and Boxing. This is true beginning of the Federation in organizing his first official championship. We are very happy with this sponsorship, as it will have an impact in achieving the goals, which meet the aspirations of the Federation and the public plan to develop and upgrade the two sports.”
He pointed out that establishing this competition goes in line with the strategy set by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, which aims to continue efforts to achieve the objectives set by His Highness to spread the culture of combat sports to Bahraini sports center and encourage young Bahrainis to practice these sports. These will lead to the formations of national teams capable of representing the Kingdom of Bahrain and achieve honorable results.
The BMMAF President said that preparations are in full swing to prepare the appropriate atmosphere for holding the championship on schedule. The Organizing Committee is finalizing the event’s arrangements related to the venue, and preparing invitations for the opening of the competitions which will kick off on Friday. He praised the cooperation and coordination between the Federation and the official bodies that support this sport.
