Bilateral relations between Qatar and Morocco are on the right track. Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar was received by Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, at the Emiri Diwan Office in Doha on Sunday.
Moroccan Foreign Minister Mezouar arrived in Qatar on Friday on a working visit. On Saturday, he met with Qatari Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, for a series of discussions focusing on bilateral relations.
Mezouar was also there to deliver a royal verbal message from King Mohammed VI. According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting focused on relations between Qatar and Morocco and ways to enhance the already close affiliation.
Back in the middle of February, Morocco welcomed the announcement of a S150 million Qatari investment in a new dam project in the province of Guelmim. Scheduled for completion by 2021, the announcement was just part of a stepped-up investment strategy involving Qatar and the Kingdom.
Then, in mid-March, following his participation in the 4th annual QITCOM conference, then Head of Government, Abdelilah Benkirane, met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where they were further able to discuss investment opportunities between the two countries.
Benkirane lauded Qatar’s efforts to boost and maintain its international economic position, while pointing out that Morocco has striven to “offer the appropriate conditions for Qatari investors to succeed in their projects.”
