Advisor to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ambassador Syed Qasim Al Masri said that the call adp[ted by Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebssi regarding the equality between men and women in inheritance is not related to calls for the revision of the Islamic heritage, as the Tunisian call contradicts with the Islamic Sharia.
He added, in a statement to “Al Maghrib Today”, that Essebsi’s call for gender equality in the inheritance and the call for allowing Muslim woman to marry non-Muslim men contradict with Islamic teachings, saying that such issues would not have been manipulated.
He added that his organization launched call to review the Islamic heritage, saying that the call is limited to the controversial issues and edicts crated by humans, while what came from the heavens is not allowed to be manipulated.
Regarding the developments in the crisis with Qatar and the possibility of intervention by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ambassador Sayed Kassem Al Masri said that the crisis with Qatar might last for a while and that the organization does not want to escalate as the boycotting countries still wait for Qatar to change its policy and abandon extremism and terrorism.
He called the Qatari authorities for returning to the Arab ranks again without being excluded outside the Arab squadron as it has been going for the past years.
He praised the position adopted by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Ali Al Thani, saying that he was one of the ruling family of Qatar before the coup of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa and his son Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, a branch which had very good relations with other Arab countries until Prince Hamad bin Khalifa and took a completely different policy from the GCC countries.
The Arab diplomat expected that Saudi Arabia would accept any political moves by Sheikh Abdullah al-Thani, where there is great acceptance by the Kingdom and the other countries of the province of Doha to deal with his personality because of his wisdom in dealing.
