Egyptian actress Menna Shalaby expressed her deep sorrow for the death of high-profile artist Shadia praying for her to rest in peace. She stressed that it is painful end of the current year as the Egyptians lost one of the major artists who enriched the artistic career with her wonderful works.
She added, “Despite her death, she will keep her presence among the Egyptian people with her works and beautiful voice. Shadia means pleasure and happiness. When we were seeing to her face, we were feeling happiness, while we lost now this happiness.”
She revealed that she joined a new film entitled “Karmooz”, saying that she prepares currently for filming her role in the new film. She stressed that what attracted her to participate in the new work is the good scenario.
She added that the new film discusses the period of the rule of King Farouk during the British occupation to Egypt, saying that it discusses the story of Egyptian officer called Yussef Al Masry who lives in Alexandria’s Karmoz district. She refused to give any more details over the film, saying that it will be surprise for the fans.
She added that she will also participates in the new film “People of Shame”, saying that it discusses a number of social issues in dramatic framework. She added that the film discusses the idea of seeking the money at the expense of ethics. She said that the film discusses a number of new ideas, describing it as a strong work that will be a turning point in the history of Egypt’s cinema.
She added that she has not signed any new contracts to join any drama works during the current period, adding that she received a large number of scenarios to participate in the coming drama season of Ramadan, while she is still considering them to decide whether to participate in any of them or not.
She also discussed the campaign she launched calling the people for donation to the poor in winter, saying that the poor people strongly suffer from the current cold weather. She added that she launched the campaign through her Facebook page calling the people for buying clothes and blankets to save them from weather during the winter.
Regarding her honoring during the National Cinema Festival, she said that each actor feels happy when he receives honoring in his country, expressing her appreciation to the administration of the festival for honoring her. She added that she received a large number of offers to participate in drama and cinema works, while she refused all of them as they were not suitable for her historic career.
