Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Saad Maan, said in a statement Monday that police forces arrested an extremist in Baghdad. He added that the forces seized a car containing explosive materials with him.
A source said that an explosive device was placed on the side of the road in a popular market in the Taji area north of Baghdad, exploded today, leaning two civilians wounded. The source, who asked not to be named,added that a security force arrived at the scene and the wounded were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Security forces found, on Monday, the body of a female dentist in the housing area west of the capital.
Iraqi Interior Ministry adviser Abdulwahab al-Taie confirmed Monday that the popular crowd forces control areas north of Babil, 100 kilometers south of Baghdad, denying the presence of Lebanese or Iranian factions, referring to previous statements by Iraqi Vice President Iyad Allawi.
The Interior Ministry adviser stressed the continuation of kidnappings, especially in Baghdad, which recorded several cases this week, pointing out that Iraqi force arrested 32 elements accused of criminal cases in this area.
On the other hand, the head of the security committee in Anbar province Naim al-Ka'ud, called, in a press statement, al-Abadi to follow-up the file of the sons of Anbar who kidnapped from the regions of Saqlawiya and Razaza province, confirming that he receives dozens of contacts from the families of the kidnapped daily. Al-Ka'ud indicated that that the families of the kidnapped people are asking to know the fate of their sons.
On onother context, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Sunday that his country supports Iraq in the area of security and defense, stressing Moscow's desire to strengthen relations in all areas with Baghdad. Lavrov said, on Monday morning during a meeting with Iraqi Vice President Nuri al-Maliki, in Moscow, that the international community must work to eradicate terrorism in Iraq, Syria and Libya, adding that his country seeks to strengthen ties of relations and partnership with Iraq in all areas.
Maliki said that Iraq faces is facing new political challenges, including the unity. "We need more than any time that Russia should have a role in issues related to Iraq," said al-Maliki.
On Monday, Iraqi deputies expressed their rejection of violations of the Israeli regime against the Palestinians in Jerusalem, while calling on the UN Security Council and the Arab League to act to stop these violations.
