Lebanese singer Waleed Tawfiq said that he was the first singer who sang for Cedar Tree, the symbol of Lebanon’s flag, saying that he was keen to perform these songs to express his appreciation to his country not to achieve any political gains.
He added, in a statement to “Al Maghrib Today”, that he was keen to sing for his country during its fight against terrorism to express solidarity with the efforts exerted by the Lebanese government to eliminate this phenomenon threatening the national security of his country.
He expressed his pleasure for cooperating with a number of major poets, including Nizar Francis, saying that these songs were a turning point in his career.
Regarding his absence, he said that the singing career suffers from a large number of problems related to production, blaming the current economic crises that hit a large number of Arab countries during the latest years. He expressed appreciation to the initiatives aiming to challenge the current conditions to present new kinds of this art, saying that some producers decided to take the risk just to keep the art.
