Just a reminder, in the beginning of the Egyptian revolution the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Sami Anan was a guest at the American administration in Washington. Days before the brotherhood coup against the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), Khairat El-Shater and three other Egyptian Muslim brotherhood leaders were also guests in Washington. According to the brotherhood style that we used to see in that era (American-Brotherhood era) we find the Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi's coup against SCAF through rapid measures organized with the American administration according to White House declarations, as the Egyptian president sacked Defense Minister Hussein Tantawi and his deputy Sami Annan and canceled the constitutional declaration which was made by the military months ago. The presidential decree extended to include Egyptian means of media and press as the new minister of information is one of the brotherhood members. This is accompanied with rapid measures to remove experienced film crews from their media centres. These film crews had shared a lot in raising the quality of journalism and its great role extending tens of years. The crews were replaced with brotherhood elements while the removal of previous staff was referred to as retirement. There were overlapping reactions to the presidential measures from organised political parties and the Egyptian people like thick fogs blocking the political vision that was lighted before by 25 January revolution on a path towards democracy, national participation and political variety. The absolute support to the Brotherhood Egyptian president came from parties and some other sides rejecting military ruling instead of the former regime but at the same time calling for the brotherhood to remain an alternative to Mubarak's regime and his party. So, where are the revolution targets? Amidst the wide Egyptian social categories suffering of hunger, poverty and unemployment, we are waiting for a golden egg. The White House spokeswoman declared a statement which stated: "The American administration is in good knowledge of all Egyptian changes but we were surprised by the timing." She also called for cooperation between the government and the military. -- The views expressed by the author do not necessarily represent or reflect the editorial policy of Arabstoday.
