A suicide bomber, wearing an explosive belt, detonated himself Sunday in New Baghdad located in eastern the Iraqi capital Baghdad leaving some persons dead and injured.

Baghdad Operations Command said the terrorist attack targeted a Shiite motorcade which marked Ashura Day.

The Iraqi capital has been witnessing terrorist attacks with explosive charges and booby-trapped cars every now and then carried out by Daesh terrorist group to destabilize the city.
