An explosion ripped through a natural gas pipeline in Iraq, said a security official on Friday.

The pipeline links between Qadir Karam and Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region.

No information has been provided about the reason behind the explosion that led to a huge fire, which was controlled later on, the official added.
