A group of militants overran a security checkpost in north-western Pakistan, killing eight paramilitary troops in a midnight gun battle, officials said Friday.
The militants fired rocket-propelled grenades before ransacking the checkpost in Jamrud area of Khyber tribal district near the Afghan border, dpa quoted military officials as saying.
Jamrud serves as one of the two land routes for food and oil supplies to NATO-led international forces stationed in neighboring Afghanistan.
