Algiers - APS
The two movements, whose representatives met on 17 and 19 June in Algiers, expressed in the statement signed by the MAA's Secretary General Ahmed Ould Sidi Mohamed and HCUA's head Alghabess Ag Intalla their "desire to promote the virtues of reconciliation, unification of ranks, harmony, tolerance and dialogue within the Azawadi society."
They also decided to spare no effort to "quickly achieve coordination for the unification of their movements," the statement said.
The two sides agreed to "create the favourable conditions for joint management of security between their respective activists and combatants with a view to consolidating the ongoing appeasement process, and show their full readiness to work in good faith with the other movements for greater harmony in their positions in the negotiations so as to achieve the unification of ranks."
HCUA and MAA have decided to "join and coordinate their positions and actions in all steps aiming at reaching a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict, and with the objective to facilitate the setting-up, the soonest possible, a coordination that brings together all the movements which took part in the exploratory consultation process launched in Algiers under the auspices of Algeria."
