International Horticultural Exposition

The city of Beijing won the bid to host the 2019 International Horticultural Exposition through voting by all the 168 members of the Association of International Horticultural Producers (AIPH) at its 155th Congress in Paris on June 11.
Ferdinand Nagy, president of AIPH and Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary-General of the Association, handed over AIPH’s flag, which symbolizes the right and honor of the host city, to the delegates from China. They also looked forward to seeing more improvements in the expo this time as Beijing is the core of China.
A member of the Chinese delegation and head of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Wang Jinzhen, thanked the association and its members for their support, and said the Chinese government would give powerful backing to the event. He also welcomed the participation of all the attendees at the meeting to the exposition in Beijing’s Yanqing county in 2019.
Xia Zhanyi, deputy director of Beijing’s executive committee of the 2019 International Horticultural Exposition, outlined the city’s preparation work and the progress of the infrastructure construction.
The expo is an A1-rating exposition and focuses on a healthy lifestyle. The 162-day event will be held from April 29 to October 7 in Yanqing county. The venue will cover 960 hectares.
The Chinese government has already gained useful experience from the staging of the Horticultural Exhibition in Kunming in 1999 and the World Expo in Shanghai in 2010.
