Three criminal charges and penalties have been issued based on the Consumer Protection Law in North Sharqiyah region amounting to RO 2,300 in fines, according to the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP).
The first defendant was charged for misleading the consumer regarding the price of a commodity, and was fined RO 2,000. The second defendant failed to provide a service that was mutually agreed on by the consumer, and was fined RO 100.
A court in Wilayat of Dima Wa Al Tayeen charged a defendant of presenting expired items and was fined RO 100 and had the product destroyed.
The Public Prosecution also issued a criminal order to charge a defendant of failing to provide the consumer with health information about the commodity he purchased, and was fined RO 100.
