Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil on Sunday received a detailed report concerning the outcome of the Industrial Control Authority (ICA)’s visit to Cairo-based Heinz Egypt Food Industrial factory.
The authority officials got reassured that the factory’s products are matching with standard specifications and that production process is not marred by any violations to health and safety standards.
The visit comes within the authority's efforts to protect the health and safety of the Egyptian consumers.
The visit follows reports that the factory is using rotten tomatoes unfit for human consumption in its products
The report noted that the authority had made a number of administrative comments on the returns of the factory products in a previous visit to the factory and that it found during this visit that the factory management had solved these previous problems and that there is a progress made concerning storage procedures and health requirements.
Heinz has been operating in the Egyptian market for 25 years and is owned by Kraft Heinz company.
