Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation, Empower, has awarded a contract that will boost the company’s production by 30,000 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT), according to Ahmad bin Shafar, Chief Executive Officer.
"Being the world’s largest district cooling services provider in terms of capacity, we continuously work on increasing our operations to cater to the needs of our rapidly increasing client-base across the Emirate of Dubai," commented bin Shafar. "This contract is part of our strategy to further build our capacities and expand our footprint in Dubai."
The contract serves Empower’s endeavours to extend its district cooling network in Jumeirah area as the company, by the virtue of this contract, has connected Jumeriah Al Naseem Hotel via a semi-permanent plant room, which will later be converted to a permanent plant.
The new contract covers Empower’s projects for Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Al Qasr Palace, Jumeriah Al Naseem Hotel, Mina A'Salam Hotel, Dar Al Masyaf Hotel, Souq Madinat Jumeirah, Wild Wadi and The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management.
The contract entails providing professional consultancy services for the full design, engineering, contract administration, construction supervision and project management of the company’s district cooling plant located in the Jumeirah project area.
"The contract awarded is part of significant expansion of the company’s operations, which currently commands a share of more than 70 percent of the district cooling market in Dubai," concluded bin Shafar.
Empower currently operates more than 1 million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
