The United States ordered Wednesday the deportation of a former Salvadoran defense minister accused of serious human rights violations during the Central American country's civil war.
Carlos Eugenio Vides Casanova was defense minister during the war in the 1980s pitting a US-backed government against leftist rebels.
The Board of Immigration Appeals, which is part of the Justice Department, dismissed his appeal against deportation.
