German architect Frei Otto -- known for his airy, tent-like structures -- has died, the Pritzker Prize committee said Tuesday, as they announced they had awarded him the industry's top prize for 2015.
Otto died on Monday aged 89. The Pritzker committee moved up the announcement of the prize winner by two weeks after his death, calling the situation "very sad, unprecedented in the history of the prize."
