A Swedish film festival will be held in Seoul from May 30 to June 5 to celebrate the state visit of Swedish King Carl XVI and Queen Silvia to South Korea, the Baekdu Daegan Film Co. said Wednesday. The Swedish Embassy in Seoul organized the weeklong Swedish Film Festival along with Ewha Womans University, the Swedish Institute and Baekdu Daegan Film Co. During the festival, organized as one of the cultural exchanges between Korea and Sweden, seven Swedish films that recently drew international attention will be screened at Arthouse Momo in Ewha Womans University. Through the festival, Korean audiences will have a chance to learn more about Swedish culture as well as the potential for Swedish films to capture Korean society and sentiment, the embassy said. All Swedish films shown during the festival will be open to the public free of charge.
