Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal opened Taif Rose Festival at King Faisal Park in Qadeera on Sunday evening. A flower carpet, spreading over 750 square meters, is one of the festival’s highlights. Prepared by Taif Municipality, the carpet was made of 100,000 flowers. Prince Khaled toured the various pavilions at the festival set up by different government and private organizations. He also visited the areas for traditional eatables, handicrafts, cultural contests for children and folk dances. Prince Khaled was accompanied by Taif Gov. Fahd bin Muammar, Taif University President Abdul Elah Banaja, Taif Mayor Muhammad Al-Mukhrej and other senior officials. Meanwhile, the third Madinah Flower and Garden Festival drew to a close after a successful run of ten days. The event was sponsored by the King Fahd Central Garden and saw a large turnout of more than 40,000 visitors. The festival included a children’s theater, in addition to a variety of entertainment contests and competitions. At the closing ceremony, Saleh Al-Qadi, deputy of the Madinah Municipality for Services, expressed gratitude and appreciation for the efforts that contributed to the success of the social and environmental fair and its cultural, entertainment and educational activities.
