Cairo - MENA
The Cairo International Film Festival's administration decided to delay the inauguration of the event to Wednesday instead of Tuesday due to the country's current political turmoil. This decision comes to facilitate the arrival of the festival's guests to the event to be hosted at the Cairo Opera House, a source in the festival's administration told MENA. The closing ceremony will be held on December 6, he said. The festival's president is film critic Yousef Sherif Rezkallah. The Cairo International Film Festival is an annual film festival held in Cairo, Egypt. It was established in 1976. It is also the only international competitive feature film festival recognized by the FIAPF in the Arab world and Africa, as well as the oldest in this category. The 34th annual Cairo International Film Festival was held from November 30 to December 9, 2010. It was not held last year because of the air of uncertainty that prevailed in Egypt following the revolution that toppled the 30-year autocratic regime of Hosni Mubarak.
