A policeman was killed and another wounded in a blast targeting a security patrol in Arish early Sunday, an official at the Interior Ministry's Media Center said.

Conscript Hossam Ali Hussein Abdel Hamid was killed while lieutenant Mohamed Sherbini was wounded when an explosive device went off while their security patrol was moving in Massaid area in Arish.

The wounded was ambulanced to a nearby hospital.
