The men's super-G has been rescheduled to Thursday after heavy snow forced organizers to postpone the opening men's race of the Alpine Skiing World Championships.
"A major winter storm that moved into the Vail Valley early Wednesday morning deposited significant amounts of snow," the International Ski Federation said in a statement.
"Due to heavy snow and gusty winds the jury decided to postpone the race."
The super-G was scheduled to begin at 11 am (1800 GMT) at the Colorado ski resort, but organizers decided to postpone the race an hour before the start time.
Officials rescheduled the super-G for Thursday at 11am.
They also cancelled a men's downhill training run Thursday and moved the start time of the women's training back three and a half hours to 1:30pm.
Weather forecasters were predicting between 15-20 centimetres (six to eight inches) of snow in the Beaver Creek area on Wednesday.
A women's downhill training set for Wednesday was also cancelled.
Norway's Kjetil Jansrud is one of the favourites for the super-G after he finished first in Tuesday's training run, timing 1min 45.62 sec.
