19 players of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters team are taking part in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2016, which will be held in Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi.
Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, stressed the importance of this major sporting and youth event, which will see the participation of large elite of renowned Jiu-Jitsu stars. "Jiu-Jitsu transformed Abu Dhabi into a global capital attracting thousands of players worldwide, making it among the main supporters of the national Jiu-Jitsu project."
He noted that the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters adopted Jiu-Jitsu as a main sport for its staff, as the current edition of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship will see the participation of 19 players of its team, within two categories of World Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
He also mentioned that the Abu Dhabi Police is the Diamond Sponsor of the Championship, and will also be responsible for securing it; while other police departments will provide various events and activities for all age segments in its pavilion.
It is worth mentioning that the Strategy and Performance Development Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, represented by the Sports Activity Section, the National Teams and Competitions Branch, will oversee the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters pavilion. The pavilion will have participations from the departments of Civil Defense General Directorate; Community Police; Emergency and Public Safety; Security Media; IT; K9 Security Inspection; and Punitive and Correctional Institutions.
The pavilion will feature a host of events including daily police dog shows, face-painting activities for the children, distributing gifts to children and attendees. Films about the role of the different police departments in protecting the society and the services they provide will be displayed on the screen in the pavilion.
The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters will be securing the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which will be held from April 15-24; with the participation from the Traffic Department at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate; the Special Tasks Department; the Emergency and Public Safety Department; and Weapons and Explosives Department.
