The Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE is continuing to play a key role in the development of motor sport in Africa.
An ATCUAE training team has just returned from a three-day visit to Tanzania to provide vital guidance to the national motor sport authority in its efforts to establish karting in the country, a press release said.
Representatives of the club's training and education arm, the Motorsport Knowledge Institute, conducted the training programme in Tanga on behalf of the Automobile Association of Tanzania (AAT).
Among the members of the MKI team was Guy Sheffield, General Manager, Al Ain Raceway. Sheffield's own kart club organises the highly successful UAE Rotax MAX Challenge, the official national karting championship.
"By introducing karting, the AAT is creating grass roots motor sport in the country, with the aim to attract a new generation of young drivers,” said ATCUAE president, Mohammed bin Sulayem.
"This is essential to give the sport a bright future in Tanzania, and we're very happy to lend our experience and expertise to make sure karting has a good start there.”
