Atlas kept the pressure on Club America at the top of Mexico's Apertura with victory at city rivals Guadalajara on Sunday.
Enrique Perez got the only goal of the game for the visitors in the 24th minute to keep second-placed Atlas just two points off the pace.
Fourth-placed Toluca lost ground as they were held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Puebla.
Edgar Benitez gave Toluca an 11th minute lead but Luis Noriega replied 13 minutes later and there was no further scoring.
