Palermo have named Bortolo Mutti as their new coach following the dismissal of Devis Mangia earlier on Monday. Mangia was sacked after less than four months in charge in the wake of Sunday\'s 2-0 defeat at Catania which saw the Sicilians slip to 10th place in the Serie A table. Palermo have moved quickly to replace Mangia, announcing the return of former Atalanta, Napoli and Bari coach Mutti for his second spell at the club this evening. A club statement read: \"Palermo announce that it has put Bortolo Mutti in charge of the first team. The new coach will be presented tomorrow.\" The 57-year-old Mutti has over two decades of coaching experience behind him, including a season in charge of Palermo 10 years ago, and was manager of Bari last term but was unable to prevent their relegation to Serie B. Palermo, who face Novara on Wednesday, opted to replace Mangia and his staff after winning just one of their last five matches. Mangia was promoted from youth-team boss to the first team in pre-season as a replacement for Stefano Pioli. However, the 37-year-old, who only last month signed a two-year contract extension with Palermo, failed to guide the team to a single victory away from home this season. The weekend loss at Catania was their seventh defeat of the campaign. Palermo were also eliminated last week from the Coppa Italia by Siena on penalties.
