Meli scored from a Boca counter-attack in the 25th minute and sealed all three points two minutes from time by slotting past keeper Marcos Diaz and into the far corner after a fine run into the area.
River Plate moved up to third after a second-half strike from Carlos Sanchez earned them a 1-0 victory over second-placed San Lorenzo.
A brace of goals from right-back Jose Luis Gomez earned San Martin San Juan a 3-1 triumph over Tigres, while Ruben Ramirez also scored twice as Quilmes beat 10-man Crucero del Norte by the same scoreline.
Braian Romero scored in the second half to earn Colon Santa Fe a 1-0 win against Olimpo, while Jonathan Rodriguez scored the only goal of the game as Argentinos Juniors beat Lanus.
