Frank Lampard scored the winner as Manchester City beat Sunderland 3-2 on New Year's Day to join Chelsea at the top of the Premier League, dpa reported.
Lampard celebrated the extension of his loan deal with a brilliant header as City survived a Sunderland fightback to go level on points with Chelsea, who were due to play Tottenham later in the day.
