Steve Bruce says he was disappointed not to be chosen to succeed Mick McCarthy at Wolves after being interviewed twice for the job. The 51-year-old has been out of work since being sacked by Sunderland at the end of November having previously managed the likes of Wigan and Birmingham. After being asked to bring his lawyers to a meeting with the Wolves board, Bruce thought he had secured a return to management at Molineux. Having already been interviewed twice, Bruce thought the third meeting was to discuss contracts, only for Wolves to cancel. \"At one stage I was close, but it wasn\'t to be. It\'s their prerogative,\" said Bruce. \"When I left the conversation on Thursday, by all intents and purposes it was to have another conversation on the Friday. \"Unfortunately, it didn\'t happen. I\'m disappointed.\"
