Former Arsenal and West Ham striker Luis Boa Morte has joined reigning South African champions Orlando Pirates, a club spokesman said today. The 34-year former Portuguese international last played for Greek club Larissa and has signed an 18-month contract with a side hoping to challenge strongly for the 2012 CAF Champions League. However, Morte has joined too late for the three-round qualifying competition starting in February and must hope the Buccaneers make the lucrative eight-club group phase.
