Moscow - MENA
Head of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II said there were no disagreements between the Egyptian and Russian churches.
Speaking to MENA correspondent here, the pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese, who is on a visit of Moscow, said “we are having a theological dialogue with the Russian church to explain the Christian understanding of Christianity.”
Pope Tawadros said he was visiting Russia for the first time and has met Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia for the first time also.
Late Pope Shenouda III had visited Russia 26 years ago and no papal visits have been made since then, he said.
As for the outcome of his meeting with Patriarch Kirill, he said they agreed on forming a joint panel to resume the dialogue and promote cooperation between the two churches.
He said a Coptic church could be established in Russia in the future.
He said his meetings in Russia with the patriarch and the foreign minister had addressed the conditions of Christians in the Middle East.
