Savage Beauty exhibit and Kate Middleton\'s royal wedding dress London - Arabstoday 2011 was a marvellous year for the Alexander McQueen label. The London “Design Museum’s Design of the year Awards”, the Oscars of the design world, has recognized the fashion house not once, but twice! The nominations were announced yesterday and the event will take place in April. Categories include architecture, digital, furniture, graphics, product, transport, and fashion. The nominees are: The Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Duchess of Cambridge’s Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton wedding dress, the Céline Fall 2011 collection by Phoebe Philo, the Mary Katrantzou Fall 2011 collection, the Suno Spring 2011 collection, the Vivienne Westwood Ethical Fashion Africa collection, the shoe collaboration between Melissa and Gaetano Pesce, the Oratory Jacket by Brompton, and the Late Night Chameleon Café boutique in London. Winners will be chosen in each category in addition to a recipient for the overall Design of the Year Award. A high profile judging panel will decide the best entries in each of the seven categories.
