The official stated that Egyptian authorities are now conducting thorough investigations into the attack, pledging to promptly arrest and punish those involved. In the televised statement, Ibrahim affirmed that the killed soldiers had ended their military service and were scheduled to return home early Tuesday. The ministry revealed that most of the victims were from the Egyptian governorate of Menoufia. Ibrahim reassured Egyptian citizens that security forces have managed to arrest a number of Muslim Brotherhood leaders, stressing that they will arrest the remaining members \"as soon as possible.\" The minister also revealed that they are set to disengage any further sit-ins, adding that authorities will not allow \"chaos\" to dominate Egyptian streets.
