Somali National Army (SNA) forces backed by Ethiopian troops of AMISOM contingent have conducted a joint opration against al Shabaab terrorist group near Diinsoor town in Baay region on Wednesday.
Somali military officials say their sweep was aimed at securing the rural areas near the town and drive al Shabaab militants out of the remaining strongholds in Somalia’s southern Baay region, Shabelle Radio reported on Wednesday.
Speaking to Radio Shabelle, Diinsoor district commissioner Ibrahim Mohamed Nur Shigshigow said the allied troops have destroyed al Shabaab bases and dislodged militants from their strongholds.
