An Islamic State (IS) militant from Malaysia, who had plotted attacks in his home country, was killed in Syria, Malaysian police said Monday.
The police confirmed that Muhamad Wandy was killed in an attack in Raqqa, Syria, on April 29, based on intelligence, national police chief Khalid Abu Bakar said.
Muhamad Wandy's wife, who had accompanied him to Syria, said on social media that he could have been killed in a drone attack.
Malaysia police said Muhamad Wandy was behind a series of failed plots of terror attacks in Malaysia as well as the mastermind of a bomb attack at a nightclub near the capital city of Kuala Lumpur in 2016.
