At least 15 people were killed after heavy monsoon rains triggered floods in India's central state of Madhya Pradesh, officials said Sunday.
The floods damaged roads, bridges and homes in the region, and as many as 500 villagers were moved to relief camps by the army.
"A total of 15 people have died in drownings and landslides in floods and heavy rains in the state in the past three or four days. Three more people are missing," state chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters.
State agencies were placed on alert as heavy rains were expected to continue over the next couple of days, he said
