Egypt's Grand Mufti Shawki Allam left here Wednesday for New Delhi on a four-day visit, during which he will meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of his participation in conference on confronting extremism and terrorism, which will kick off on Thursday.
Allam will also hold talks with Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari along with the Indian minister for minorities affairs.
He will also deliver a main speech during the conference, which will be attended by more than 2,000 scholars throughout the world.
Allam's visit to India comes as part of his keenness on the effective participation of Darul-Ifta in the international forums and conferences to review the experiment of the Islamic civilization at the humanitarian, cultural and scientific levels, said Muft's adviser Ibrahim Negm.
