Czech road police will award drivers who will successfully pass sobriety tests with a bottle of non-alcoholic beer till the end of August, Czech television said on Thursday. Czech police chief Vladislav Gusak said as many as 11,400 intoxicated drivers were detained and fined across the country in the first half of 2011, a 2.4-percent increase from the same period of 2010. Police will welcome \"any rational initiative that would help lower the number of intoxicated drivers,\" he said. The Czech Association of Beer Makers has agreed to cooperate with Czech law enforcers in promoting sobriety among drivers. A total of 15 beer factories producing more than 80 percent of the country\'s beer have joined the campaign.
