Two rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) were killed and another surrendered in fighting in the country's northern Bolivar province when they have crossed a predetermined zone carrying weapons, first time the bilateral cease-fire has been broken, the military said Wednesday.

The Colombian government and FARC signed a peace agreement in September but was rejected in a referendum last month.

The two sides ended a revised deal over the weekend that aims to end 52 years of conflict that has killed more than 220,000 people and displaced millions.

President Juan Manuel Santos ordered the cease-fire with the rebels in August.
