A firefighter died when a blaze destroyed a large part of Sao Paulo’s nineteenth century railway station on Monday, euronews reported.
The building houses a museum dedicated to the history of the Portuguese language.
The station was originally built by the British.
The fire blazed for hours despite a heavy downpour.
Firefighters said the fire started on the first floor and quickly spread throughout the museum, which contained several electronic installations.
