New Delhi - Arab Today
12 civilians were reportedly killed and 30 wounded on Friday in a terror attack on a market in Assam's Kokrajhar district in India.
Three or four men in black used firearms and grenades during the attack said Russia Today, citing Indian media.
Police were able to kill one of the attackers, while the others fled the scene of the attack. So far, no militant group has claimed responsibility for this incident.
There are several separatist armed groups that are active in Assam and in the poor remote areas in northeast India. The most famous one is the United Liberation Front of Assam, which combines several separatist groups, as well as the National Democratic Front in Bodoland.
These armed factions seek to separate Assam from the Indian central authority. To that end, they are carrying out terrorist attacks against the means of transportation, officials and citizens from other Indian regions.
