Two minibus taxis collided head-on near Klerksdorp, South Africa, killing at least 12 people and injuring eight, police said. The vehicles collided Saturday on national route N12 between Klerksdorp and Wolmaranstad, eNews Channel Africa reported Monday. The two taxis hit head-on after one of them attempted to overtake a truck, the South African Broadcasting Corp. reported. "We can confirm that the crime scene is still fresh; we're still working around it to ... save lives as much as possible but we are also not sure if the number will stand at 12," said Brigadier Thulani Ngubane, a police representative. ENews Channel Africa reported five of the victims were children between the ages of 1 and 6. Both drivers were killed and eight of the injured people were hospitalized, two in critical condition, the report said.
