A fresh salvo of rockets unleashed from the Hamas-controlled Gaza strip targeted the Israeli city of Tel Aviv early on Thursday, the Israeli Army said.
A spokesman of the army told Israel radio the "iron dome" defense system intercepted at least two of the missiles roaring across the skies above Tel Aviv.
Sirens blared across the city as the military urged civilians to stay in underground shelters or other safe places.
Izz-Eddine Al-Qassam Brigades issued a statement claiming responsibility for firing the new volley of rockets on Tel Aviv, located some 80 km north of Gaza.
Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, along with other Palestinian factions, have heavily used locally-made missiles in the current hostilities with Israel that broke out three days ago.
