The Israeli army on Sunday said that Israeli soldier 2nd Lt. Hadar Goldin, who had been feared captured by Hamas activists in Gaza died in action in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Israeli radio ,Goldin’s family was notified of the decision by the Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon accompanied by Head of the Israeli army Personnel Directorate Maj. Gen. Orna Barbivai and the Chief Military Rabbi Brig. Gen. Rafi Peretz.
Funeral of 2nd Lt. Hadar Goldin will be held Sunday or Monday, his family said.
Israel had previously said the soldier had been captured in battle, and in the wake of the announcement launched the deadliest 24-hour airstrikes on Gaza since the beginning of the operation that has killed more than 1,700 Palestinians.
