The US-led coalition carried out 22 more airstrikes against ISIL targets in Syria and Iraq between 8:00 a.m. yesterday and 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, local time. In Syria, attack, bomber, fighter, and drone aircraft conducted 11 airstrikes in total, the Combined Joint Task force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) announced in a statement.
Five were near Kobani, where they "struck an ISIL tactical unit and an ISIL building and destroyed four ISIL fighting positions," three were near Ar Raqqah, where they "struck an ISIL weapon storage facility and an ISIL tactical unit.
The airstrikes destroyed five ISIL buildings and an ISIL vehicle," and the last three were near Al Hasakah, where they "destroyed an ISIL checkpoint, an ISIL fighting position, and three ISIL vehicles," CJTF-OIR said.
In Iraq, attack, fighter, and drone aircraft were used for another 11 airstrikes, the statement said. They took place near Bayji, where "two airstrikes struck two ISIL tactical units," near Al Qaim, where "an airstrike destroyed an ISIL shipping container," near Tal Afar, where "an airstrike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed two ISIL buildings and an ISIL fighting position," near Taji, where "an airstrike struck an ISIL tactical unit," near Ar Rutbah, where "an airstrike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL vehicle," near Al Asad, where "two airstrikes struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL building and seven ISIL boats." Finally near Mosul "three airstrikes struck an ISIL building, an ISIL tactical unit, and an ISIL armored vehicle, and destroyed an ISIL mortar system, and an ISIL fighting position," the statement affirmed. CJTF-OIR did not specify which nations took part in this round of airstrikes, and typically does not disclose the number of casualties, if any.
