The establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has the special meaning to Russia, said Andrei Denisov, Russian Ambassador to China lately.

Russia holds very positive opinion about AIIB. The Asia-Pacific region and northeast Asia need more financial mechanisms and banking institutions for development, Denisov said during an exclusive interview with Xinhuanet.

Russia has made a grand economic development plan for its east. The Eastern Siberia and Far East regions are very near to China, therefore, this plan could only be implemented with China, Denisov noted.

Russia hopes that the new financial mechanisms including AIIB and the Silk Road Fund could promote infrastructure construction in east Russia, Denisov added.

Russia welcomes the efforts that China makes in the new financial mechanisms, Denisov remarked, adding Russia expects to participate in it positively.
