Manpower Minister Gamal Sorour on Friday said Egypt takes active and confident steps to restore and promote its regional and international roles to serve Arab, African and Muslim peoples.
Speaking to the third session of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Labour Ministers Conference in Jakarta, Sorour added that Egypt presents its capabilities and expertise for the OIC member states, particularly in the areas of labor and employment, the settlement of labor disputes, vocational training, and the promotion of links between labor unions and business institutions, as well as the fields of migrants' care, and mechanisms to accommodate the returnees in compelling and coercive conditions.
He lauded efforts made by Indonesia to support the Islamic world and the economic and social development issues.
Indonesia hosts the ministers in charge of labor, employment and productivity from OIC member states in Jakarta for the third edition of the Islamic Conference of Labor Ministers from 28 to 30 October 2015.
The theme of the conference, “Mainstreaming Youth Employment and Occupational Safety in OIC Member States”, is timely considering the fact that in recent years the average unemployment rate in OIC Member States fluctuated between 7.6 percent and 8.8 percent of total OIC labor force, while world average unemployment rate remained around 7 percent.
The meeting provides the ministers with opportunity to share their national experiences on strategies, achievements and challenges towards addressing unemployment, strengthening social protection systems and labor market policies, in particular occupational health and safety, among others.
