Egypt's ambassador in Rome Amr Helmi has said Egypt is looking forward to Italian investments around the Suez Canal.
In a press conference, the ambassador added that preparations for a visit by Italian Minister of Economic Development Federica Guidi to Egypt reflects the interest of the Italians in investing in Egypt's New Suez Canal region.
The ambassador highlighted the importance of the New Suez Canal in boosting international trade.
Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurated Thursday the New Suez Canal in a great celebration attended by world leaders.
The new 72-kilometer waterway, dug in less than a year at a cost of 60 billion pounds, runs part of the way alongside the existing canal connecting the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
