The Ministry of Interior (MoI), in co-operation with Qatar Petroleum (QP), organised an awareness training programme for the safety and security trainers of companies working in Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC). Traffic Department director Brigadier Mohamed Saad al-Kharji, director of North Security Department Brigadier Ali Mohamed al-Noaimi, director of MoI public relations department Lt Col Abdullah Khalifa al-Muftah, director of Ras Laffan Industrial City Abdul Azeez Jassim al-Muftah, director of QP’s security risks and administrative affairs department Abdullah Jamal al-Jabir and a number of officers from the Ministry of Interior and RLIC attended the inaugural ceremony of the programme. The training programme aimed at introducing the trainers at RLIC to rules concerning the traffic and residence regulations in Qatar and the country’s customs and traditions. It is being carried out with the hope of avoiding violations and achieving social security among the employees working and living in RLIC, it was announced at the meeting. The trainers attending the session will be training the employees of each company. At the training programme, the MoI team presented four lectures on ‘Qatar’s customs and traditions’, ‘common traffic mistakes’, ‘residence law No.4 / 2009’ and ‘vehicle collision /hitting accidents among the expatriate workforce in Qatar’. The programme started with the inaugural speech by al-Muftah. While lauding the initiatives of the ministry in organising a cultural and awareness programme for the benefit of RLIC employees, al-Muftah said it was an important step which reflected the advanced concept for inculcating more responsibility among the country’s residents. Brigadier al-Noaimi thanked the officials of QP and RLIC for organising the event. He said the programme expressed the ministry’s keenness to providing the requirements of safety and security for the members of the society through such awareness campaigns. Brigadier al-Kharji said such programmes would play a key role in spreading awareness among the expatriates on rules and regulations prevailing in the country. At the start, a lecture on customs and traditions of Qatar was delivered by community policing officer Lt Shaheen Al Atheeq. Safety adviser at Traffic Department, Ademola Illori, made a presentation on common traffic errors. Lt Abdullah Bakheet al-Murri highlighted the residence law No.4/2009.
